Depart early from Kigali for the scenic drive to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda. The journey takes about 2.5 hours and passes through Rwanda’s rolling countryside, local villages, and cultivated hills. On arrival, meet your guide, pick up a packed lunch or enjoy a meal at a park lodge, and begin your first game drive.
The morning drive takes you through savanna, woodland, and wetland edges where elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope are commonly seen. After lunch, continue with an afternoon drive or a boat experience on Lake Ihema, where you can watch hippos, crocodiles, and water birds. In the late afternoon, begin the return transfer to Kigali.
